25 August 2012 Bend,OR->Bellevue,WA

This is John's new climbing Jeep. You wouldn't believe where this Jeep can go!

We headed North to Washington State.  The Colombia River is in the distance. It is the border between Oregon and Washington.

We were surprised at how desolate the land was in eastern Washington.  They sure had a lot of wind driven electricity generators.

Ozel and oldest grandchild, Austin, pose for a pre dinner photo at a local seafood restaurant.

Daughter in law, AnLee and son, Sean.

AnLee and her Mom seem to be enjoying themselves.

24 August 2012

This was our last day in Bend before heading to Bellevue, WA to visit our son, Sean, and his family.  John, DK, Ozel and I went to the ZZ Top concert.  It was terrific!

This is actually the opening band -which we didn't really enjoy.  Couldn't get photos of ZZ Top because everyone stood for the entire concert - which was expected.

Ozel was quite proud of his "over 21" bracelet!

This is the first time we've experienced purchasing a bottle of wine at concert or any other similar event for that matter!

23 August 2012

We had a wonderful time in Winchester Bay and it was with mixed feelings that we left but we have more experiences ahead of us. The drive to Bend was a pleasant one.

The girls with their Elephant toy which was a gift from cousin Morgan.  The elephant is a "look at " toy.  This was taken just before we brought in the slide

We passed this covered bridge on the way to Bend.  Not a bad shot considering we were traveling at 55 mph

We went on a 3.6 mile walk this morning along the Deschute river.  It was especially neat since the dogs could be off lead.  Ozel threw a stick into the river for Nissa to retrieve.  She wasn't used to retrieving in current so lost sight of the stick...the next thing we knew, she was swimming with her head under water looking for the stick on the bottom.  What a Water Dog!!!

Ozel and Maryann with Nissa and Osita on our  walk.  The water in the background is the cove where we went crabbing.

View out the front of the RV.

Ozel and John enjoying the view from the site of the Lighthouse.

Winchester Bay Lighthouse.  This is an active lighthouse which was built in 1857.

This is John's rig right next to ours.

We have had a lazy couple of days.  Ozel and John installed 2 AGM batteries in our RV today.  They also had a couple of electrical challenges today but all is well now.  Check in tomorrow for the fishing report.

16 August 2012 Winchester Bay, OR (Reedsport)

This was a great but cold day! We went crabbing on John's new boat.  What a hoot!  The only negative  was the temperature. I don't think my core temp has been that low, including during ski season.  It was fun though.

We went out around 9AM when the tide starting to come in and came back in around 1:30 PM.  There were over 20 dungeoness crabs in the ice chest.

John bringing in a basket of crab.

Can hardly wait for dinner..

This is how the crabs are measured.  They
must be 5 3/4 inches across the shell and
only males may be kept..

The Crabbers - Ozel and his brother, John.

John and his best friend, Ching Ida.

Ozel's sister and her family came up from Bandon, OR to join us for a Crabfest.  We had a great time but I feel badly that I didn't get any photos.  I guess I got carried away preparing the sides for the dinner...or...impatient to "dig in".

15 August 2012 -- Winchester Bay, Oregon

We arrived at Winchester Bay this afternoon after a great trip from Angel Fire, New Mexico.  Our son Sean chastised us for letting our Blog go "stale".  So, here I am sitting on the divan with Ozel on one side of me, Nissa on the other and Osita at my feet as I attempt to recap our trip so far.

We spent the first night of the trip at Ami's Acres RV Park, Glenwood Springs, Colorado. It was a pleasant simple park which was great for an overnight.

From there we headed north and west to the National Dinosaur Monument in Jenson, Utah. We really enjoyed  this national park.  The "Quarry" was very interesting and educational....there was a wall of dinosaur bones that have been excavated from an ancient river that has long since disappeared.

Ozel demonstrates how large some of the bones where.

Looking down at the Quarry wall that contains the bones.

A skeleton of a dinosaur similar to the one in the the painting which shows what the scientists think the dinosaur looked like.

We drove on to Vernal, UT which wasn't far from the Monument and spent the night at Fossil Valley RV Park. It was a nice clean park - another park good for an overnight.

Tonight we stayed at the best Park that we have found so far.  It was clean, had well spaced pads, a great staff and was beautiful.  We even walked to a Chinese Restaurant for dinner - the food was good too.  We stayed at the Mountain Home RV Park, Mountain Home, Idaho.

The entry way to Mountain Home RV Park

We arrived at Ozel's brother John and his wife, D.K.'s  home in Bend, OR on August 13th.  We always enjoy our visits with them.  We hit the Golf course the day after we arrived.

D.K. has quite the rig for her golfing and sun protection.

This is one of the most beautiful courses there is. It was a great day!!

And now we have arrived at the present.  We left Bend this morning and had a beautiful drive to Winchester Bay. We have the space next to John which is convenient.. We will head out early in the morning to go crabbing.  Stay tuned for the results...

This is the view from the balcony of our room in at John's house.  What a way to start the day!
The "Girls" really like it there...they can run free.  Notice the snow is still on the mountain tops.
